Des Hudson appointed Chairman of the Taxation Disciplinary Board

The Councils of the CIOT and ATT have announced the appointment of Des Hudson as chairman of the Taxation Disciplinary Board for a four-year term beginning on 01 November 2009.

Des is the [private]Chief Executive of the Law Society of England and Wales and former Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

Andrew Hubbard, President of the CIOT, said ‘We are delighted to welcome Des Hudson as the new Chairman of the Taxation Disciplinary Board. His stature and experience will strengthen public confidence in the Board’s independence and tax professionals’ confidence in the fairness of the Board’s proceedings’.

David Stedman, President of the ATT, said ‘The Taxation Disciplinary Board is a visible part of the system which enables the public to have confidence in those dealing with their tax affairs. We look forward to working with Des Hudson as the new Chairman of the Board’.

Des Hudson, Chairman-elect of the Taxation Disciplinary Board, said ‘I am proud to be invited to serve as Chairman of the Taxation Disciplinary Board and I pay tribute to my immediate predecessor, Vicki Harris, who has given me a sound base to work from’.[/private]
