Duane Morris & Selvam hires David Teo Shih Yee from Allen & Gledhill
Duane Morris & Selvam LLP is pleased to announce that David Teo Shih Yee has joined Selvam LLC as a director in its Corporate Practice Group. With his depth of experience in corporate transactions, particularly in tax matters, Teo’s addition strengthens the group’s growing international corporate practice. Duane Morris & Selvam is the first U.S.–Singapore joint law venture to be approved under the enhanced joint law venture model. Teo joins the firm from Allen & Gledhill LLP in Singapore.
Teo focuses his practice on tax advisory and structuring, applications for advance tax rulings, stamp duty remissions and tax due diligence. He advises clients on the tax aspects (including goods and services tax) of mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital-markets finance, Islamic finance (sukuks), fund management, asset securitization, collateral debt obligations, aircraft/ship financing and employee equity-based remuneration schemes. Teo is also involved in corporate transactional work such as mergers and acquisitions, including drafting and negotiation of sale and purchase agreements and shareholders agreements.
Teo has represented and advised Singapore and international financial institutions, fund managers, airlines, ship operators/managers as well as other multinational corporations.
Teo was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2003. He has been an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) since 2008, upon completion of the ACCA course.
Teo earned his LL.B. from National University of Singapore in 2002 and his B.S. in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University in 2008. Teo speaks English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia.
