Josh Brady joins Bingham as Corporate Tax Partner
Bingham McCutchen LLP has expanded the capabilities of its tax planning group with the addition of corporate tax lawyer Joshua T. Brady as a partner in the Washington office.
Joining Bingham from Ivins, Phillips & Barker, Chartered, Brady is a recognized authority on the taxation of mergers and acquisitions, distributions, restructurings, and corporations filing consolidated returns. He was previously the Chair of the D.C. Bar Taxation Section Corporation Tax Committee. He is the co-author of the CCH Expert Treatise Library title:Corporations Filing Consolidated Returns, serves as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center teaching courses on corporate tax and consolidated returns, and is a frequent speaker on corporate tax matters.
“Josh brings a wealth of tax planning skills and diverse industry experience, and he has the energy to apply them both to serve our existing clients and expand our breadth and depth of services, particularly to our technology and manufacturing clients,” said John Magee, leader of Bingham’s Tax Group. “With Josh joining and our existing group of next-generation tax professionals, we are well positioned to grow our market-leading practice for the future.”
Brady’s addition continues the momentum of the Tax Group, following on insurance tax lawyer Susan E. Seabrook’s arrival as a partner in July. In May, Chambers USA presented the Tax Group with the 2013 Award for Excellence in Tax, citing outstanding achievements in providing legal services to a broad array of sophisticated businesses. The firm’s tax controversy practice has been ranked in the top tier nationally since the category first appeared in Chambers USA, and this year Chambers named the team “one of the foremost players in the arena,” noting their “superb expertise in cross-border controversy and transfer pricing.” Bingham tax and tax controversy lawyers are accomplished advisers, advocates and trial lawyers. Fluent in the tax law, they understand the business context in which tax issues arise.
For Brady the attraction to Bingham is the caliber and scope of its tax lawyers, its deep experience on corporate tax matters, and its dedication to maintaining and growing market-leading practices.
Brady has advised clients on a number of sophisticated acquisition and disposition structures, including tax-free mergers, tender offers and international restructurings. He also has extensive experience in some of the largest public spin-offs and split-offs, including spin-offs attendant to mergers, joint ventures and private equity investments.
