Tax Specialists Betts, Nack, Sites and Winter admitted to Grant Thornton US partnership

Grant Thornton (US) has made up new partners and managing directors with effect from 1 August. They include:

Jeffrey Betts, Tax Partner, Minneapolis

Jeff Betts is a Tax Services partner in Grant Thornton’s Minneapolis office. With more than 20 years of experience, Betts works with multinational corporations and provides a broad range of services, including income tax compliance and planning, tax provisions, coordination of federal, foreign and multistate planning, IRS audit defense, and M&A assistance. His primary focus is in manufacturing and retail and he also co-leads the Food and Beverage practice team in Minneapolis. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Betts spent 17 years working for PricewaterhouseCoopers. In addition, he has worked in the corporate finance group of a large Fortune 500 company.

Cassy Nack, Tax Partner, Dallas

Cassy K. Nack is a partner in the Dallas office of Grant Thornton. She has more than 15 years of experience providing tax compliance and consulting services to public and private companies in a variety of industries. She leads the Financial Services practice in Dallas. She also provides tax advice to financial institutions. Nack is experienced in leading multifunctional teams, including federal, state and local, and international tax resources focused on understanding an organization’s needs and delivering on service and strategies that meet those needs. She has experience in several specialized industries, including hedge funds, private equity and broker-dealers.

David Sites, International Tax Consulting Partner, Atlanta

David Sites has more than 12 years of experience working with U.S.-based multinationals, foreign-owned inbound U.S. corporations, closely held businesses and high net worth individuals. His primary focus is income tax planning and consulting for multinational enterprises. Sites has served a wide array of companies in various industries, including manufacturing, technology and retail. He is primarily engaged on issues involving federal and international taxation of business enterprises, including multinational corporate groups and pass-through entities. Sites has participated in numerous consulting projects for his clients, including cross-border planning and structuring, repatriation planning, foreign tax credit planning and industry-specific research on a wide variety of issues involving federal and international tax. In addition to his consulting responsibilities, he has a wide range of experience in compliance matters, including transactional reporting issues. He has also participated in numerous assurance engagements mainly focusing on the application of FAS 109 and FIN 48 to worldwide consolidated financial statements.

Steve Winter, Tax Partner, New York

Steve Winter has more than seven years of public accounting experience, the majority of which has been devoted to serving the financial services industry. Winter has both private and public company experience specializing in providing professional tax services to hedge funds, private equity funds, broker-dealers, asset managers, investment partnerships and corporations. He has directed and managed tax compliance work, special research projects and tax strategy consulting, as well as SFAS 109 and FIN 48 projects. In addition, Winter provides staff training on tax methodologies and taxation of financial instruments.
