Marc Kushner joins Baker & McKenzie’s North America Tax Practice as a Partner
Marc Kushner has joined Baker & McKenzie’s North America Tax Practice as a partner, adding to the Firm’s broad experience advising partnerships (including limited liability companies), real estate investment trusts and other real estate investors, real estate developers, corporations (including S corporations) and tax exempt organizations.
“Marc is a versatile tax attorney with a solid track record of creating tax structures and solutions that have ‘bottom-line’ enhancing results for clients,” said Len Terr, Chair of the Firm’s North America Tax Practice. “He is a great addition to our transactional Tax Practice and we are pleased to have him join the Firm.”
Based in Chicago, Mr. Kushner concentrates his practice in federal, state and local taxation of partnership, joint venture, corporate and mergers and acquisitions transactions. He has extensive experience in real estate investment trust (REIT) taxation and tax issues pertaining to tax-exempt organizations. Mr. Kushner’s experience includes the representation of private real estate companies and REITs in multiple billion-dollar M&A transactions. In addition, he has structured transactions for clients from federal, state and/or local income, franchise and transfer/recordation tax perspectives. Mr. Kushner also represents clients in Internal Revenue Service audits, as well as in audits and inquiries of state and local taxing agencies and authorities.

Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, Mr. Kushner was a partner at Duane Morris LLP. Earlier in his career, he worked at several other law firms in New York. Mr. Kushner received his B.A. from Emory University in 1988, his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1992, and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 1995. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
