Grant Thornton admits new tax partners and principals in Chicago office
Grant Thornton LLP has admitted Rick Strohmaier, 35, as State and Local Tax partner and Glenn Talboy, 35, as Tax partner in the Chicago office.
The firm also promoted David Cavin, 36, to Strategic Federal Tax Services managing director, Mike Eickhoff, 41, to managing director in the Property Tax & Incentives group.
Strohmaier joined the firm in 2004 and has more than 10 years of experience working in state and local taxes. He specializes in state and local income and franchise services, including retroactive return reviews, effective tax rate planning, tax structuring, tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, audit defense, voluntary disclosures and amnesties.
He is a certified public accountant (CPA) in Illinois and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Illinois CPA Society. He is actively involved in the Chicago Tax Club and is a member of the Taxpayer’s Federation of Illinois Annual Meeting Committee and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce Taxation Committee. He received a master’s of accounting degree from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.
Talboy joined Grant Thornton in 2010 and has more than 10 years of public accounting experience in corporate tax compliance, consulting and ASC 740 reporting. He has extensive experience serving multinational companies both privately owned and publicly traded.
He is a CPA in Illinois, Kansas and Missouri and a member of the AICPA and the Missouri Society of CPAs. Prior to relocating to the Chicago area, he was on the board of directors and served as Social Committee chair for the Red Shoe Society – Ronald McDonald House. He also served on the Funding Committee for United Way. He received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Cavin joined Grant Thornton in 2005 and has more than 10 years of experience in the tax fixed asset consulting field. He is the national service line leader for the firm’s Capital Cost Recovery (CCR) practice where he is tasked with spearheading CCR initiatives across the firm. He specializes in performing cost classification, depreciation analysis studies, repairs and maintenance studies and accounting method changes.
Eickhoff joined the firm in 2009 and has nearly 15 years of experience in assisting clients in identifying, negotiating and implementing state and local tax credits and business incentives. He has held senior positions in government, industry, public accounting and financial advisory firms. He has worked with mid-sized and Fortune 500 companies in the manufacturing, financial services, renewable fuels, consumer products and technology sectors.
