BDO Melbourne Tax Partner appointed to Board of Taxation’s Advisory Panel
BDO in Australia has announced the appointment of Melbourne-based Tax partner Jason de Boer to the Board of Taxation’s Advisory Panel until the end of 2016.
The Advisory Panel draws together some of Australia’s leading taxation professionals who voluntarily contribute their knowledge and expertise. Its purpose is to assist the Board of Taxation in the general performance of its Charter and in advising the Treasurer on improvements to the general integrity and functioning of the tax system.
BDO in Australia’s National Chairman, Ms Helen Argiris, said:
“This will be Jason’s first year as a member of the Panel and the appointment recognises both the calibre of his technical expertise as well as his thought leadership on enhancing accounting standards,”
Mr de Boer’s tax reform activities have seen him:
- Assist in drafting the Reportable Tax Positions Schedule through representing the CPA on the Reportable Tax Positions NTLG sub-group.
- Consult to the ATO via the NTLG IFRS Sub-committee
- Be involved in the development of technical thought leadership on AASB 112 – Income Taxes, including preparing responses and comment letters in response to specific tax accounting matters
A corporate and international taxation specialist, Mr de Boer has worked with both public and private corporate clients on a range of complex tax matters. He joined BDO in 2014 as a tax partner, having spent his tax career with Deloitte up until this point.
