Michelle Quest is the new UK Head of Tax at KPMG
KPMG has appointed Michelle Quest as its UK Head of Tax, Pensions and Legal Services with immediate effect.
Michelle Quest succeeds Karen Briggs, who now leads KPMG’s Solutions practice in the UK and sits on the Executive Committee of the Board.
Michelle joined KPMG in 1997 and has been a tax partner for the last 12 years. During that time she has worked across a broad spectrum of clients from mid-market corporate and private equity clients right through to leading on some of KPMG’s largest global accounts.
Michelle has also previously held a number of senior roles at KPMG including Head of the UK Private Equity and EMA M&A Tax Practices. She has also served as Head of People for the UK firm, leading CSR initiatives linked to education and championing the firm’s commitment to promoting fair access to the profession.
Commenting on her appointment as UK Head of Tax, Pensions and Legal Services, Michelle Quest said:
“I have worked at KPMG for 19 years and I am delighted to be taking on this new role. This is an exciting time for the tax, pensions and legal services practice as the backdrop in which we operate is rapidly evolving. We are seeing significant market disruption from the implementation of the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Actions, EU audit reform, the change in regulation of legal services, and the advance of digital processes, to name a few.
“Added to this, there is increasing public interest in the tax debate and closer scrutiny of the tax profession. As a firm, we have already taken a leading role in the, often heated, public debate about tax and morality, actively bringing people together to understand different viewpoints in an effort to build shared views on responsible tax. I am committed to continuing to champion our position in this debate.”
Simon Collins, Chairman of KPMG in the UK, said: “I am pleased to appoint Michelle to the head of our tax, pensions and legal services practice. She brings significant leadership experience to the role both from within tax and beyond. As one of our most experienced tax partners, I am confident that Michelle is ideally placed to lead our growth ambitions for the practice and our continued commitment to the responsible tax agenda.”
