Dominique Gallego resigns from EY to strengthen Sidley Austin’s FS tax capability in New York
Sidley Austin has announced that Dominique Padilla Gallego has joined the firm in New York as a partner in its Tax practice.
Ms. Gallego is a highly experienced tax lawyer who advises clients in the asset management and structured finance sectors. She works with hedge funds, private equity funds and other investment vehicles/ventures on a wide range of investment strategies and cross-border issues.
“Dominique is a seasoned tax partner in the investment management and structured finance areas with very impressive experience in the international tax aspects of that practice,” said Laura Barzilai, co-leader of Sidley’s Tax practice. “Her strong skill set will help continue our commitment to provide top-notch tax advice to a broad variety of clients, including asset managers with both U.S. and international platforms.”
Ms. Gallego has extensive experience in U.S. inbound issues related to credit, real estate and other complex investments, in addition to outbound issues involving investment platforms outside the U.S. She has assisted clients in determining permanent establishment risk in various jurisdictions, evaluating the application of income tax treaties and assessing the medium- and long-term operational impact of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project and similar local country initiatives. Ms. Gallego also has deep experience in financial products and structured finance transactions.
