Muhunthan Kanagaratnam resigns from Deloitte to lead the tax team at Gilbert + Tobin
Gilbert + Tobin has announced the appointment of a new partner, Muhunthan Kanagaratnam, to lead its tax team.
Muhunthan joins the firm after a nine year period as a Tax Partner with Deloitte, specialising in mergers and acquisitions transactions. Muhunthan helped rebuild Deloitte’s M&A Tax practice in Sydney, before building its M&A Tax and International Tax practice in Brisbane. He was previously also a founding member of the Gilbert + Tobin tax team.
Muhunthan will be involved in structuring transactions and fundraisings at an early stage and working as part of the broader Gilbert + Tobin transactional team. He is also keen to grow Gilbert + Tobin’s tax controversy and policy work.
Gilbert + Tobin Managing Partner Danny Gilbert is delighted to welcome someone of Muhunthan’s calibre back to the firm.
“Muhunthan has an exceptional reputation, is highly regarded by the clients he works with and brings a wealth of experience in transactions. He will be a terrific addition to our already formidable tax presence.”
Muhunthan is pleased by his return to Gilbert + Tobin. “It is exciting to be shaping the future of the tax practice of such a dynamic and driven firm, with the freedom and support needed to succeed.”
