Deloitte recruits Rosemary Sereti into its Washington National Tax team
Deloitte has announced that Rosemary Sereti has joined the firm as a managing director in its Washington National Tax, tax controversy services practice.
Sereti previously served as the deputy commissioner for the Large Business and International (LB&I) division at the IRS.
Sereti will advise Deloitte’s U.S. clients on identifying and resolving international and domestic tax issues, including the most recent IRS initiatives that impact LB&I taxpayers.
“Rosemary is a leader known for her excellence in anticipating and addressing critical tax issues, given her vast knowledge of and practical experience with the federal tax system,” said Steve Kimble, chairman and CEO of Deloitte Tax LLP. “Her tax technical talent, dedication to serving clients, and devotion to growing and leading the next generation of talent, will contribute greatly to the value we provide organizations and our people.”
Sereti spearheaded notable initiatives at LB&I while leading a team of more than 4,500 tax professionals and staff. These include designing and implementing the new Compliance Campaign process; forming a cross-functional implementation team to govern and provide strategic oversight for the new partnership audit procedures; and developing a strategic plan to redesign the Compliance Assurance Program and the legacy Coordinated Industry Case Program.
“Every tax controversy is unique. I look forward to helping clients solve their tax challenges by bringing my working relationships, credibility, and familiarity with tax agency teams and decision makers across the country to the table,” said Sereti.
Sereti held a variety of other senior executive leadership positions at the IRS, including industry director for Financial Services, director of International Individual Compliance, and deputy director for Pre-Filing and Technical Guidance. While serving in these areas, she worked with taxpayers and trade associations to identify, address, and resolve significant international and domestic tax issues across a wide range of industries and tax return filing populations.
In addition to her leadership and management credentials, Rosemary was a 2017 recipient of the IRS Treasury Leadership Legacy Award and a previous recipient of the IRS Commissioner’s Award.
Sereti is a licensed CPA in the state of Connecticut and the District of Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Quinnipiac University and a Master of Science in taxation from the University of New Haven.
