New tax hires at EY in the US…

Todd Angkatavanich joined the National Tax Department of Ernst & Young LLP as a principal in Hartford, CT, focused on Private Client Services. Angkatavanich had been a partner and co-head of the US Private Client and Tax Group at WithersBergman LLP since June 2005. Previously, he was with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal (now Dentons LLP) and Satterlee Stephens Burk & Burk. He earned his Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University, and holds a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Rutgers. He received his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Joseph Mariniello returns to Ernst & Young LLP in New York as a principal in the Global Compliance & Reporting practice focused on real estate. He was Senior Vice President and Head of Tax for The Related Companies since 2008. Previously he had been senior tax manager at Weiser LLP and began his career at EY in 2003. Mariniello earned his Juris Doctor from the Touro School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University.

Robert Kies joined Ernst & Young LLP as a principal in Los Angeles, focused on Private Client Services. Kies had been a managing director with Anderson Tax as well as CFO of Golden Boy Enterprises. Kies earned his Juris Doctor from University of California-Los Angeles and his Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University. 

Mark Opper joins the National Tax Department of Ernst & Young LLP as a principal in Partnership Transaction Planning and Economics. Opper joined EY from Deloitte Tax LLP and has previously worked with McDermott Will & Emery. Opper earned his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, his J.D. from Wake Forest University and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia. He is based in EY’s Washington, DC office. 

Stephen Cranford joins Ernst & Young LLP as an executive director in the National Tax Department focused on Tax Technology Transformation. Cranford joins EY from IBM where he was a partner for Cognitive Solution (Watson) and Cross Industry Solution Leader since 2015. Previously, he was a vice president and global intellectual property practice leader for Capgemini. Cranford is based in Washington, DC.

Peter Marrs joins Ernst & Young LLP’s National Tax Department as an executive director with the firm’s International Tax Services practice. Marrs comes to EY from General Electric, where he held several tax leadership positions, including as Senior Tax Counsel – Tax Policy since 2013. He has also served in the Office of International Tax Counsel of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from Union College. Marrs is based in New York.

Andrew Cooper joins Ernst & Young LLP as an executive director focused on tax technology & transformation for the firm’s Financial Services Office. He was previously with Excelerator Solutions, LLC and PwC where he was focused on tax technology solutions. Cooper earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington and Lee University and is based in Atlanta.

Linda Kim joins Ernst & Young LLP’s National Tax Group as an executive director focused on tax technology for the Tax and Finance Operate practice. Linda was previously a managing director at Deloitte where she worked for 18 years focused tax compliance, provision and consulting. Her prior leadership roles include, Cosourcing competency leader for the central region and Deloitte Tax Insight deployment leader with the Chief Tax Technology Office.   She received her Bachelor of Science degree from DePaul University and is based in Chicago.
