Steve Asher moves from Gateley Plc to UHY Hacker Young

 In Gateley, UHY Hacker Young

UHY Hacker Young, the national accountancy group, has appointed Steve Asher as its Head of Global Mobility Services. Steve will be based at UHY Hacker Young’s London office.

Steve was previously the Head of Global Mobility Services for Gateley Plc, the first law firm to be listed on the London Stock Exchange. Steve successfully launched Gateley’s Global Mobility Service, which involved the movement of clients’ employees -between offices, both inbound and outbound.

Prior to this, Steve was Head of UK Global Mobility Services and the Global Mobility International Network for over five years at the Top Ten accountancy firm Mazars.

Over the course of Steve’s career, he has worked with numerous international organisations on complex cross-border mandates; from managing a large deployment of staff from a global aerospace business to the UAE, to advising an international engineering group on their targeted international acquisitions. Steve’s services are also increasingly of interest to newly internationalising small and mid-sized companies.

The appointment of Steve to UHY Hacker Young’s London office was a timely decision. Global Mobility Services, which includes managing the deployment of employees to overseas offices as well as inbound movement of staff, is likely to become increasingly important as companies prepare for the impact of Brexit on international assignments.

Global Mobility Services look to critically evaluate and design improvements to how a business manages the international deployment of staff focusing on managing and minimising risks, optimising costs and building operational strategies.

Steve Asher, Partner at UHY Hacker Young, says: “Heading the Global Mobility Services team at UHY Hacker Young is a very exciting opportunity, especially given the size and strength of the firm’s international network; which now operates in 320 offices in more than 95 countries worldwide.”

“The team here already has a strong workflow and this is set to increase as more companies plan ahead amidst the UK’s changing relationship with the EU.”

Laurence Sacker, Managing Partner at UHY Hacker Young, says: “Steve has unique experience working at both accountancy and law firms and has an impressive track record in managing cross-border work. We look forward to having him on board.”
