Ian Hyde launches tax litigation practice at Osborne Clarke

International legal practice Osborne Clarke has welcomed new tax litigation Partner Ian Hyde to the firm. Having set up the tax litigation practice at Pinsent Masons, he has more than 25 years’ experience in tax strategy and risk.

Specialising in tax disputes, Ian represents clients in all aspects of tax risk and tax litigation, including alternative dispute resolution, appealing to the Tax Tribunal and the higher courts up to the Supreme Court, references to the European Court, judicial review, tax investigations and in tax related commercial disputes and professional indemnity matters.

Recognised by Legal 500 as a ‘stand-out’ lawyer, Ian acts for clients on a range of direct and indirect tax disputes including income tax, corporation tax, VAT, pensions tax, environmental taxes, the corporate criminal offences of facilitating tax evasion and diverted profits tax. Ian is also a CEDR qualified mediator and sits as a part time judge in the Tax Tribunal.

Ian’s appointment forms a key part of Osborne Clarke Disputes and Risk Practice Group’s on-going expansion, which saw the appointment of business crime expert Jeremy Summers in 2015, reputation and crisis management specialist Ashley Hurst in 2016, financial regulatory disputes expert Rachel Couter in 2017 and international arbitration specialist Artem Doudko in 2018.
