Susan Ball joins RSM as Employment Tax Partner
RSM has appointed Susan Ball as partner in its growing Employer Solutions national team. She will be based in London.
Susan, who has more than 30 years’ experience in taxation, has returned to RSM after an eight-year gap working in a national firm of assurance and business advisers (Crowe).
In her new role, Susan will be helping a broad portfolio of clients with complex UK employment tax related issues including areas such as off-payroll working, salary sacrifice, National Minimum Wage (NMW) advice, risk reviews and pay and benefit structures.
As well as her role at RSM, Susan is the current Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, sits on the employment taxes committee and is a Suffolk branch member.
She joins a rapidly growing Employer Solutions national team that designs and implements tax-efficient share schemes, plans and manages the tax compliance of employees on international secondments as well as develops cost-effective reward strategies for companies of all sizes.
Susan commented ‘I am happy to be back at such a large and well-regarded firm as RSM. The breadth and depth of RSM’s services around the country lured me back, as I can see the real value of offering holistic services to clients, as opposed to them using multiple advisers in isolation.
‘One of the main areas that organisations are struggling with at the moment are their responsibilities with off-payroll workers and IR35. Many in the private sector are looking to put policies in place while the public sector are having to adapt what they already have ahead of the changes from April 2020. Working alongside RSM’s HR consultancy business and our client legal practice, means that as an employment tax adviser, I can provide a better and more efficient service to clients.’
Anne-Marie Welch, partner and head of RSM’s employer solutions group in London said, ‘The Employer Solutions team and the wider firm are excited to be working with such a talented UK employment tax expert. Susan’s return to RSM adds to our expertise in UK and international tax and financial rewards planning for employers and employees and contributes to our wider goal of being the first-choice adviser for these services in the middle market.’
