Paul Smith joins RSM capital allowances team
RSM has strengthened its national capital allowances and corporate tax offering with senior appointments.
Paul Smith has joined RSM’s capital allowance team as a director. He joins from KPMG to head up RSM’s capital allowances advisory team in Scotland and Northern Ireland. He brings over 20 years’ experience across tax and quantity surveying disciplines, where he is dual qualified as a chartered quantity surveyor (RICS) and member of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT). Paul provides a wide range of clients with transactional, due diligence and technical advice and has particular expertise in property, construction, energy and renewables sectors.
In his new role, Paul will work alongside national lead Peter Graham to support a growing portfolio of ambitious middle market businesses in both Scotland and across the UK to unlock tax reliefs on capital investment.
Peter Graham, RSM’s head of capital allowances, said: ‘Our capital allowances practice continues to grow, and it’s great to have Paul on board. Our team is now 14-strong up from just four in 2017 – more than tripling in two years. The rapid growth reflects both our capability and the consequent increased demand of clients wishing to draw on our expertise.
‘This growth is testament to the outstanding talent and capability we have in the team, enabling us to navigate what can be seen as a complex set of rules and allowing us to unlock significant tax cash savings for our clients.’
