Cooper Parry makes high-profile tax hire: Linda Marston-Weston

 In Cooper Parry

Press release:

We’re delighted to announce we’ll be welcoming a new Transaction Tax Partner to Cooper Parry on 1 March 2021.

Linda Marston-Weston joins us after 21 years at EY. There, she was Transaction Tax Leader and Head of Tax in the Midlands, and she brings with her over 35 years’ experience in advising individuals, PE houses and companies on all types of transactions.

With Linda’s arrival, our Tax team’s move from generalist to specialist shifts up a gear. She’s the latest addition to an ever-growing list of key hires joining CP from the Big 4. And now, under Linda’s leadership, we’re looking to grow our Transaction Tax team in the entrepreneurial market by welcoming more fresh faces – starting at Senior Manager level. So, if that’s you and you’d like to join Linda at the “Best Employer in Tax”, consider this a friendly nudge in our direction.

Linda will also be working closely with the Cooper Parry Corporate Finance team in the coming months to provide joined-up CF and transactional tax advice on deals, taking our offering for clients from strength to strength.

PASSIONS SHARED

Impressive as it may be, it’s not just Linda’s tax expertise that makes her the perfect fit for CP. She also founded a female entrepreneurs’ network, bringing female business leaders together to collaborate, support each other and share the initiatives they’ve been rolling out across their businesses and communities.

Linda created the network to marry her loves for entrepreneurship, diversity of people, and diversity of

thought. And with recent discussion topics including B Corp Certification and re-engineering digital for the future, it quickly became clear that Linda’s interests align beautifully with ours – in more ways than one.

Linda said:

“I joined Cooper Parry because of the opportunity to build and grow a Transaction Tax team in the entrepreneurial market – a space I’ve always been passionate to support. All the people I’ve met at CP have been fantastic, and I knew immediately that they were people I would love to work with.

There’s a real enthusiasm around everything at CP, the culture is incredible, and there are a lot of similarities between the business’s values and my own. It’s an interesting time to start leading a new team, of course, but I’m very confident and excited about what we can build here.”

Simon Baines, our Head of Tax, added:

“By welcoming Linda to CP, we’ve continued to recruit the best talent in the market, and with a high quality, 80 strong tax team, we’re perfectly placed to support entrepreneurial businesses in all areas of tax.

I’m really excited about working with Linda, she’s a fantastic fit for CP, and we want to build the #1 Transaction Tax team in the Midlands’ mid-market space, while also having national reach. It’s a fast-growing part of our business, and the huge value our support can add to business owners plays a key role in helping them achieve their ambitions.”
