Stuart Twinberrow joins Alvarez & Marsal Taxand
Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLP (A&M Taxand), an affiliate of leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has strengthened its financial investors tax practice with the appointment of Stuart Twinberrow, who joins as a Managing Director. Mr. Twinberrow’s appointment marks a time of significant growth for A&M Taxand U.K. following the recent arrival of Managing Directors Kersten Muller, David Tuch, Nicolas Stratford and Jeremy Orbell.
Mr. Twinberrow, who will work alongside A&M’s senior practice leaders including Marvin Rust and Jason Clatworthy, brings more than 20 years’ experience in corporate and international tax, having advised a significant number of private equity and financial services clients. He has deep expertise with large/mid-market private equity and financial services clients on both buy and sell-side due diligence mandates, alongside international structuring support for both acquisitions, disposals, dividend recaps, MBO’s and IPO’s.
Prior to joining A&M Taxand, Mr. Twinberrow was a Partner at Deloitte, where he led its M&A Tax team in London. Recognising that tax diligence was increasingly moving towards the insurance sector, he founded and ran a specialist M&A insurer, a business which advises on pricing and managing transaction risk for the private equity community. He brings specialist insight into mid-market and large-cap buyout structures and a deep skillset in tax diligence and pricing.
Ernesto (Ernie) Perez, Managing Director and Global Practice Leader, A&M Taxand, said: “Against a backdrop of external market uncertainty, A&M continues to develop our proposition and grow the depth of our teams. While based in the U.K., Stuart will work alongside our transaction tax and financial diligence teams across the U.S., the U.K., and Europe, to address market and client needs.”
Marvin Rust, Managing Director and Head of A&M Taxand Europe, said “Stuart has a unique skillset, bringing together an impressive career within M&A and deep insight into how the insurance sector intersects with those processes. This hybrid insight will be invaluable in helping clients transact more effectively, and contributing to this next phase of expansion for the team. I look forward to working with him.”
Commenting on his decision to join A&M, Mr. Twinberrow said: “The pandemic has accelerated M&A activity, creating new risks and opportunities for businesses looking to transact. At this pivotal time in the market, I’m pleased to be joining A&M – a firm which has M&A at the core of its DNA – and to have the opportunity to advise clients on some of the industry’s most challenging and exciting deals.”
