Karey Barton joins KPMG Washington National Tax Practice as Managing Director

KPMG USA has announced that Karey Barton has recently joined their Washington National Tax Practice as a Managing Director. He joins from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts office where he most recently served as the Associate Deputy Comptroller for Tax, with responsibility for tax administration, taxpayer assistance, and compliance and enforcement.

Karey was one of the chief architects of the Texas Margins tax, served as tax director of the Texas Tax Reform Commission, and Tax Policy Director for the Comptroller’s office. He also served on the board of Federal Tax Administrators, giving him insights to states beyond Texas.
