Alvarez & Marsal strengthens UK tax offering with three senior hires
Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has bolstered its team with three senior hires in its Tax team in the London office. This comes at a time of significant growth for the firm and its tax practice, as it seeks to further expand its offering and presence in major sectors across the UK.
Anthony Whatling joins as Head of Private Client to help expand the firm’s offering for high net worth private clients, their families and trusts. In addition, Steve Henshaw joins as a Managing Director specialising in Indirect Tax and Tom Lobb has been appointed as a Managing Director specialising in International Corporate Tax in London.
Mr. Whatling bring over 20 years of experience in providing tax advice to ultra-high and high net worth clients, offshore trusts and family offices. Prior to joining A&M, he spent four years with the wealth advisory business, Evelyn Partners, as well as holding positions at Ernst & Young, PwC and BDO. Mr. Whatling has worked with clients across various industries, including private equity and hedge fund executives.
Steve Henshaw, brings a wealth of experience advising privately owned, private equity backed companies, and large multinationals on indirect tax matters. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Henshaw spent 25 years with EY, where he also advised a number of large multinationals and was responsible for the indirect tax input on due diligence and structuring projects.
Tom Lobb has more than 20 years of experience in international tax and transactions for listed groups, private equity funds and their portfolio companies. Mr Lobb started his career at KPMG and spent the last seven years at EY in London, most recently as a Partner.
The addition of three Managing Directors follows the recent appointments of Andy Murray and Prasam Patel in December 2023.
