Delphi Names New Chief Accounting Officer
The Board of Directors of Delphi Corp. have named Thomas S. Timko, 38, as chief accounting officer (CAO). Prior to joining Delphi, Timko was an assistant controller for The Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG), a group of advertising agencies and marketing service companies, based in New York. Timko will report to Bob Dellinger, Delphi chief financial officer.
“Tom’s energy, along with his rich experience and extensive knowledge in financial accounting, will be integral to Delphi as we continue our reorganization process, while addressing our internal control deficiencies and implementing a shared services environment,” said Dellinger. “More than ever, the CAO role is a key part of every company’s management team. As CAO, Tom will work closely with the corporate and divisional finance teams, internal audit, tax and treasury staffs to ensure adherence to the highest level of accounting and ethical standards.”
Timko joined Delphi in June 2006 as controller for the company and has been working with John Sheehan, Delphi’s previous chief accounting officer to transition responsibilities. Sheehan remains vice president and chief restructuring officer for Delphi. Prior to joining IPG in December 2004, Timko was the assistant controller for industrial manufacturer Dover Corp. in New York. Timko started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in 1991 in Florham Park, N.J. and worked in a number of senior accounting roles before joining Dover in January 2003.
Timko is a Certified Public Accountant and a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. In 1991, he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, N.J.
