PwC Canada announces 13 new tax partners – read their bios here
PwC Canada has announced its 2015 partner promotions and 13 tax professionals join the partnership. They are:
Anthony Ampatzis – Toronto
Anthony is a Partner in PwC Canada’s Private Company Services tax group. I
He works with private and public companies and their shareholders structuring acquisitions and dispositions of operating and portfolio investments, reorganisations, distribution and other tax planning, and ongoing compliance.
Bruno Godin – Moncton
Bruno is a Partner in the National US tax practice. With over 10 years of professional experience, he has provided tax services to a broad variety of clients, both public and private, in several industries including retail, manufacturing, construction, technology, financial services and professional services.
Prior to joining PwC, Bruno developed experience from working for large multinational companies, including Irving Oil and Brookfield Renewable Power. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CA) in Canada and a Certified Public Accountant in the US (Illinois). Having completed a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University and all levels of the CICA In-depth Tax Program, Bruno has an extensive technical understanding of both the Canadian and US tax systems.
Eric Labelle – Montréal
Eric joined PwC last November, having spent 20 years with Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton.
He is a Partner specialising in international tax and is passionate about helping my clients do business outside of Canada. By developing and implementing financing, acquisition and reorganization structures, he helps people make sense of the intricacies surrounding international tax.
Darryl Irwin – Toronto
Darryl is an external hire and joined PwC in May 2015. He specialises in corporate and international tax and has a strong M&A tax background. Prior to joining PwC Darryl was with Deloitte where he led the M&A tax practice for Deloitte Private.
Fred Cassano – Toronto
Fred is a tax partner in the Private Company Services group, based in Toronto. He provides business and tax advice on strategies to minimize income tax, structuring of acquisitions and reorganizations, loss utilization planning, shareholder/owner remuneration planning, assistance with tax audits, appeals, advance tax rulings and various other tax compliance matters.
Fred dedicates most of this time servicing the real estate sector. He has experience in effective tax planning for the acquisition, ownership, leasing and disposition of real estate and structuring / restructuring partnership and joint venture arrangements. Fred’s real estate clients are involved in residential, industrial and commercial development and the ownership of office, industrial and residential properties.
Jaime Seidner – Toronto
Jaime has over 25 years’ customs experience and has worked for Canada Customs, the law firm Dentons as well as Big 4 consulting firms. He re-joined PwC in November 2014, having previously worked for the firm from 1997 to 2005.
Jayme Yeung – Toronto
Jayme specializes in Canadian inbound and outbound international tax. She advises Canadian and foreign multinational corporations on cross-border transactions and financing, treaty interpretation, and corporate reorganizations. She also assist clients with Canadian tax compliance and tax audit defence.
Jayme graduated from the University of Waterloo’s Master of Taxation program and received the Canadian Tax Foundation Scholar Award. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and a U.S. Certified Public Accountant.
Jonathan Osten – Vancouver (Fraser Valley)
Jonathan is an external hire and joined the Firm in May 2015. He is responsible for core Canadian tax consulting and compliance. He specializes in private company services working with ownership and management on all relevant tax issues affecting the business and being proactive by bringing forward value-added opportunities. He has significant experience advising the shareholders of private companies.
Julie Vézina- Montréal
Leroy Dougherty – Toronto
Leroy is a partner in the Tax Services practice of PwC and is based in the GTA. As a Professional Engineer and the leader of PwC’s GTA Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) team, Leroy makes practical and effective use of his experience as an entrepreneur, prior SR&ED claimant, and 9 years of claim preparation and review experience for both large and small corporations.
His technical expertise includes in-depth knowledge of industry leading IT management and software development practices, IT technologies, commercial RDBMS, client/server technologies, web technologies, gaming engines, TCP/IP networking, ERP applications, data warehousing, business process reengineering, and security throughout the enterprise.
Patrick Lindsay – Calgary
Patrick is a tax litigation specialist who joined Wilson & Partners (a law firm affiliated with PwC Canada) in October 2014, from Borden Ladner Gervais. As a partner he manages all tax dispute and tax litigation matters in Western Canada.
Tara Farley – Calgary
Tara is a Partner in the Global Mobility practice of PwC Calgary with a primary focus on Canadian & US expatriate taxation.
She has over 17 years of experience (all at PwC) serving clients in matters relating to employee mobility, including policy design and implementation. She assists employers and their employees with the global tax, payroll and human resource issues arising from international assignments and cross-border travel. This includes the provision of consulting services to multinational companies, both large and small, with respect to their global mobility programs, as well as the management of tax compliance for their employees.
Yuri Revenko – Calgary
Yuri is an Oil & Energy Tax specialist. He trained with Arthur Andersen in Kazakhstan before moving into industry with PetroKazakhstan. In 2005 he relocated to Calgary to join PwC’s Energy practice but also experienced a secondment to the Firm’s Dusseldorf office for 12 months from 2012-2013.
