Denton Wilde Sapte taps Tax Specialist from Taylor Wessing: Alex Thomas
Denton Wilde Sapte has secured the lateral hire of corporate tax specialist Alex Thomas from Taylor Wessing. He joins the firm on 17 April as an equity partner in its London-based Taxation department.
A partner at Taylor Wessing since 2004, Alex specialises in corporate, commercial and real estate issues, including corporate disposals and acquisitions, flotations, demergers and reconstructions and venture capital transactions. He also has particular expertise in film and media taxation, venture and AIM tax reliefs and stamp duty land tax planning.
The appointment follows the announcement last year of plans to double the size of the firm’s Corporate department – the driving force behind much of our Taxation work.
“I am confident that Alex’s breadth of expertise in corporate tax will deliver further momentum to our expansion plans,” says Taxation head Jane Douglas.
Denton Wilde Sapte’s Taxation department plays a role in most of the transactions in which the firm is involved, as well as leading the way in structured high-value tax-driven transactions. The appointment of Alex Thomas adds a fourth partner to the team, which was also bolstered last year by the appointment of senior solicitor Jeremy Cape.
Commenting on his move to Denton Wilde Sapte, Alex adds: “The close synergies that the department has with the rest of the firm makes this the ideal place for someone with drive and ambition. I see great opportunities in corporate tax, and also in pairing my expertise with the firm’s market-leading practices in areas such as real estate and media.”
