Noam Handler joins EY Manchester
Manchester tax specialist, Noam Handler, has joined Ernst & Young as a partner.
Handler (33) uniquely specialises in both transaction and international tax, responding to the local market’s increasing demand to operate and transact in a multinational environment.
He joins from the Manchester office of Deloitte, following the recent appointment of fellow tax partner Martin Portnoy in summer 2007.
Manchester Senior Partner, Jan Gregory, at Ernst & Young said: “Noam is the fifth partner we have added in the last seven months. He joins a tax team with ambitious growth plans. Led by Tracy Wood, the North West tax practice intends to double in size by revenue and people numbers in the next three years.”
New tax partner, Noam Handler said: “I was attracted to Ernst & Young by the firm’s strong approach to teaming locally and globally, offering clients a well-rounded service. It’s an exciting time for the practice that has significant growth plans in the North West.”
Handler will continue to advise fast growth international businesses on their global operations and overseas transactions. He will work with the region’s private equity houses, management teams and shareholders, building on the success of Ernst & Young’s transaction tax team in Manchester. He is also tasked with developing relationships further with boutique corporate finance firms and banks in the region.
In 2007 Handler advised on more than 15 transactions worth over £1bn, working on numerous buy-outs, re-financings, flotations and cross border corporate transactions.
Head of Tax in Manchester, Partner Tracy Wood said: “Our tax practice in Manchester is the largest outside of London and is rapidly growing – our revenues are up 35% on last year and we are actively recruiting at all levels of the practice.
“In the last 6 months we have appointed two new partners and launched a new transfer pricing service led by director Sarah Teshome. Plans are in place to take on up to three new partners and grow our current specialisms including indirect tax, property and local government.”
Handler has climbed the accountancy ranks to make partner in just eleven years, initially training with KPMG in London in 1996. He qualified in 1999 in Manchester before moving to Arthur Andersen and on to Deloitte where he worked up to director level in three years.
A Cambridge graduate, Noam lives with his wife and four sons in Salford.
