Burr Pilger Mayer hires 3 international tax partners

In Burr Pilger Mayer, Rowbotham & Company, Tax Partner Moves

Burr Pilger Mayer, LLP (BPM), Northern California’s leading non-Big Four accounting and consulting firm, has been actively hiring into its international tax group.

Three new international tax partners have joined the firm: Doug Wright, formerly an international tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and most recently west region managing director of a national international tax consulting firm; and Kent Lawson and Inna Merzheritsky, both former tax partners at San Francisco’s Rowbotham & Company, LLP.

“Doug, Kent and Inna, combined with BPM’s existing expertise, have suddenly formed what is one the strongest international tax teams in Northern California,” says BPM managing partner Steve Mayer.

Over the coming months, Mayer expects to devote still more resources to the effort. “This expansion represents a significant growth opportunity and is responsive to the needs of our clients to increasingly manage international risks and take advantage of global opportunities. As a Bay Area firm, we are uniquely positioned to help our clients in global markets. With strong technology, life sciences, real estate, and family-business practices, there is a growing need to broaden our international expertise,” he said.

Wright has more than 25 years of experience in international tax matters working with some of the Bay Area’s most notable companies. This includes structuring for outbound and inbound international operations, joint ventures, and acquisitions; global transfer pricing and international technology transfers; and the IC-DISC export tax incentive.

Lawson does international tax planning, compliance, and controversy work for fiduciaries, executives, entrepreneurs, multi-national families, technology start-ups, real estate businesses, public companies and private equity funds.

Merzheritsky specializes in international and domestic tax planning and compliance for multi-national businesses and families, including cross-border transactions, choice of entity planning, executive compensation and employee relocation, residency planning, and real estate investment.

BPM offers tax, business consulting, wealth management and audit services across a wide spectrum of industries from offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, San Jose, Walnut Creek and Novato, California. The 350-person firm is employee-owned, with a strong foundation of environmental, social and philanthropic stewardship. For more information, please visit www.bpmllp.com.
