ERISA expert resigns from White & Case to join Tax & Benefits group at Ropes & Gray
A nationally known expert on ERISA and executive compensation issues, Oringer joins Ropes & Gray to lead the firm’s ERISA and compensation practice in New York, adding critical strength and visibility to its national employee benefits and executive compensation practices.

A prolific author and speaker, Oringer is a nationally known expert in a broad array of matters involving ERISA’s fiduciary rules, executive compensation and employee benefits generally. He holds key leadership positions in employee benefits committees and subcommittees of the tax sections of the New York State Bar Association (where he is also on the Executive Committee of the Tax Section) and the American Bar Association, and he has authored or co-authored numerous bar comment letters and reports to regulators on both fiduciary and compensation issues. In addition, he recently testified at the request of Congress regarding recent Department of Labor regulations.
Oringer has been highly ranked for four consecutive years in the Chambers USA guide and is widely recognized by other major legal directories, including those published by the Practical Law Company and the Best Lawyers of America. He serves on the advisory board of BNA’s Pension & Benefits Reporter and has recently been invited to serve on the advisory board of Tax Management Compensation Planning Journal.
Oringer is an adjunct professor at the Hofstra University School of Law, where he earned his law degree with distinction and served as associate editor of the law review. Oringer earned his AB degree cum laude with distinction in Economics from Duke University and has an MBA from Adelphi University School of Business.
