Sara Stewart joins the London tax team of Vinson & Elkins
Sara Stewart has joined Vinson & Elkins as counsel in its London office.
Stewart first established herself as a senior tax associate at Slaughter and May, where her practice covered the tax implications associated with a variety of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (domestic and cross border), group reorganizations, finance, equity and debt capital markets. She continued her practice at Herbert Smith Freehills, also advising on real estate, insurance, energy and infrastructure transactions.
“We are excited to welcome Sara on board as we continue to grow the firm’s presence in London,” said Alex Msimang, head of V&E’s London office.
V&E’s tax team in London is headed up by partners Michael Thompson and Jenny Doak, who have established a preeminent position as advisers to large corporations operating in the UK’s oil and gas sector. The team also serves clients in a range of other sectors, notably private equity, finance and telecoms, making Stewart, who brings a wealth of diverse transactional tax knowledge, a key addition to the group.
“Sara’s versatility and commercial, client-focused approach really attracted us to her,” said George Gerachis, head of V&E’s Tax and Executive Compensation and Benefits department. “Expanding our team with a lawyer of her exceptional talent will enhance our ability to serve the tax needs of our UK and multinational clients.”
“It is a privilege to be joining Vinson & Elkins, and I am thrilled to start the next chapter of my career with lawyers of the highest quality in the UK and across the world,” Stewart said.
