Joyce Zijlstra promoted to partner at Dentons’ Amsterdam tax practice
Dentons has strengthened its Tax practice with the appointment of Joyce Zijlstra as a partner in the Amsterdam office. She will focus on developing Dentons’ indirect tax offering in the Netherlands.
She has more than 15 years’ experience in consulting on value-added tax (VAT). In recent years she has developed a strong focus on data analytics, VAT automation and tax assurance projects for indirect tax.
Drawing on Dentons’ indirect tax team – consisting of VAT advisors, accountants, analysts and IT professionals – she advises clients in a wide range of sectors, including international trade industries, public authorities, financial institutions and the real estate sector. In addition to traditional advisory services, she delivers key solutions in VAT automation and internal control optimization, such as continuous monitoring tools that provide industries control over their processes.
Ms. Zijlstra has served as a consultant in Dentons’ Tax team since January 2018. She also worked as a tax advisor for a number of Dutch consultancies – most recently VATWorkx – as well as KPMG.
Wendela Raas, Netherlands Managing Partner, commented: “Joyce’s admission to the Dentons partnership reflects her deep knowledge of indirect tax and the high quality services she delivers to clients. I am delighted to congratulate her on achieving this important career milestone.”
“Since joining Dentons, we have made significant investments in the development of our Tax practice in Amsterdam. We now have a quality team of 13 tax lawyers, including five partners, who offer full scope legal advice covering all tax matters” said Marien Glerum, Benelux Managing Officer.
Joyce Zijlstra commented on her appointment, ‘‘I am honored to be a partner in the world’s largest law firm. I look forward to working with my colleagues here in Amsterdam and around the globe to further develop our indirect tax offering and provide top quality service to our clients.’’
Dentons’ Tax practice includes more than 280 tax lawyers and consultants worldwide. The practice is among the fastest growing Tax teams on the European continent, having more than doubled its headcount in less than three years.
