Roel de Vries joins A&M as Benelux tax leader

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has announced the appointment of Amsterdam-based Roel de Vries as a Managing Director of Alvarez & Marsal Benelux BV (A&M Benelux). Mr. de Vries’ appointment demonstrates A&M’s commitment to the strategic expansion of its cross-border tax capabilities, building upon the bench strength of recent Benelux hires Frank Buitenwerf and Marc Sanders.

Mr. de Vries brings over 15 years of corporate and international tax advisory experience, along with in-depth knowledge of the tax regulatory environment and tax authorities. He specializes in tax diligence and advisory services in relation to financial services, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Mr. de Vries has significant expertise solving complex tax problems related to the structuring of reorganizations and mergers, cross-border investment and financing, distressed debt, real estate and securitizations.

Mr. de Vries has worked across multiple industries including consulting, software and technology, energy and resources and life sciences. Prior to joining A&M, he served as a senior tax professional with Deloitte in Amsterdam. In that role, he led a team of tax advisors working with financial services and real estate sector clients. Additionally, Mr. de Vries has also served several secondments across multiple Deloitte offices and at client sites worldwide.

Mr. de Vries earned a master’s degree in Fiscal Economics from the University of Groningen, and competed the Advanced LLM program, in US and international tax law, at the University of Leiden. He is member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors.
