Simmons & Simmons bolsters TP expertise with hire of Monique van Herksen

Simmons & Simmons has affirmed its commitment to developing a top tier transfer pricing controversy practice with the appointment of a new partner in the tax practice. Monique van Herksen, who joined the international law firm’s Amsterdam office on 9 April 2018, specialises in transfer pricing.

Monique has been practising in transfer pricing and international tax for over 28 years. She was in practice with Stibbe from 1995 to 2001, before moving to Baker McKenzie to set up its European transfer pricing practice. Following her eight and a half years at Baker McKenzie, Monique joined EY in 2010, initially to manage the EMEIA Tax Controversy practice, before moving to New York in 2013 to take the role of Global Transfer Pricing Controversy leader.

Since autumn 2016, Monique served as consultant to the UN Financing for the Development Programme where she was responsible for conducting trainings on transfer pricing in developing countries and preparing transfer pricing materials for the UN Tax Committee. In addition, she has been teaching transfer pricing and dispute resolution courses at Vienna University and Maastricht University’s International Tax Law & Policy curriculum.

The Amsterdam office of Simmons & Simmons was officially opened on 12 May 2011.
